2. Visit Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation

Athens's latest modern art museum, built specially to house the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation’s world-class collection of Impressionist, Modernist and post-war art. The long-awaited museum opened its doors on 2 October 2019 on Eratosthenous Street in Pangrati. It shares a small plaza with the adjacent church of Saint Spyridon and is only a stone’s throw from Panathenaic Stadium.

From Van Gogh to Pollock and everyone in between, the world’s most famous painters have found a permanent home at the new museum of the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation.

3. Relax with a steam bath

After wandering around in the city center there is nothing better than to let yourself indulge in Hammam baths. Hammam is a small-capacity (up to 8 people) traditional bathhouse in Psiri. Lie on the warm marble, breathe deeply in the steam bath and place yourself in the hands of experts equipped with a ketse (a special sponge for exfoliation) foaming with natural olive oil soap.

4. See the sunset in Mount Lycabettus

The tallest point in Athens is 277 meters above sea level and from up there, you can enjoy the best view of the city. At the top, we will find the whitewashed church of Agios Georgios (St. George). Though this route can be enjoyed at any time, the best option is to visit around sunrise or sunset when the city of Athens is illuminated with twinkling lights.

5. Watch a movie under the stars

Cine Thission has the honor of being repeatedly listed among the ten best open-air cinemas in the world. Open from May till October, this open-air cinema is truly unique. Watch an old-timey movie with a night view at the Acropolis.

That's all Folks!
