Vyronas School Streets 2023

The "School Streets 2023" festival was a huge success! The Municipality of Vyronas participated in "European Mobility Week" with a two-day event dedicated to sustainable and safe transportation for students. Well-known Greek street artists painted six crosswalks on Tatoulon Street, in front of the Ergani School Complex, creating an equal number of asphalt art works. The participating asphalt artists were Yiakou, Achilles, Epsilon, One Bran, Noless.one, Otom1, and Jimi Norone, who created wonderful works of true street art. At the same time, a large mural was created by the artist Achilles, inspired by one of the most legendary music photographs of all time, with the letters S.T.O.P crossing the "Abbey Road" crossing!

The art of asphalt was complemented by educational interactive games on traffic safety, an art workshop coordinated by painter Chrysolie, face painting activities, and at the end of the day, Mayor Katopodis and Deputy Mayor of Education Klonari raffled off two amazing bicycles, which were won by two very, very lucky children!

And because, as we all know, a festival without music is unthinkable, on Sunday afternoon the event was accompanied by the dynamic presence and sounds of the Woodpeckers, a rock/blues band with a rich biography, appearances on many music scenes, live stages, and events.

The event was funded by the Green Fund, specifically by the Extroverted Actions, Natural Environment, and Innovative Actions 2023 program. It was a joint organization of the Municipality of Vyronas and the Awesome Athens Experiences team, whose activity and goal is to promote and showcase the wider Athens area through contemporary urban art.
