"Kronos" is the title of the large mural recently created by Brazilian artists Kelvin Koubik and Laura Lolli in the Nea Ionia area, specifically on Ethnikis Antistaseos Street on the wall near the Anatolia Bridge. The mural is a representation of time and the relationship between generations, inspired by the Greek word "Chronos." The letter "K" was added as a reference to the artist, but it is also linked to the word "Kosmos," meaning people, thus creating a connection between the words "Kronos" and "us." The basic idea of the work is the passage of time and the connection between generations, symbolized by the interaction between an elderly female figure representing the wisdom and ancestral tradition of Greece and a child representing Brazil, a young and promising country, full of potential, seeking to develop on the basis of racial and age diversity.

The child is holding a pau-brasil sapling, a species endemic to the Atlantic Forest on the coast of Brazil, which highlights the urgent need to preserve the environment.

The olive tree and guava in the background, representing the native flora of the two countries respectively, reinforce the connection between Greece and Brazil and the importance of celebrating environmental diversity and local flora.

The mural "Kronos" evokes the concept of time and the urgency with which we must build a healthy relationship with the environment, honoring our roots, embracing diversity, and passing on wisdom to future generations.

Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, Kelvin Koubik is a visual artist who mainly creates large-scale murals. In his creations, whether public or private murals, he engages with traditional painting and contemporary art and seeks to understand the social and cultural dynamics of the places where they are developed. He recently returned from an artistic trip to the Amazon, where he experienced and depicted the riverside culture of northern Pará, and also completed a 50-meter-high mural in honor of the important Brazilian athlete Daiane dos Santos, in the center of Porto Alegre.

A visual artist, painter, and muralist with a degree in fashion design, architecture, and urban planning, Belo Horizonte-born Laura Lolli develops works that combine different painting techniques in various forms and experimental surfaces. Through these expressions, Laura explores existence, observing timelessness, cycles, different perceptions of reality, and the transience of life.

The creation of the mural was a joint effort by the Brazilian Embassy in Athens, the Guimarães Rosa Institute, the Municipality of Nea Ionia, and the Awesome Athens Experiences team.

The high-quality, durable acrylic paints were kindly sponsored by KRAFT paints.
